Brno House of the Arts, House of the Lords of Kunštát
Dominikánská 9, Brno
28.6. – 27.7. 2018
opening 27 June 2018

The grad show represents a traditional FFA event which presents the graduates’ works to the public. This years’ exhibition is special as the Faculty of Fine Arts is celebrating 25 years from its founding and as this year is also the last year of successful and reformative term of the present Dean, Milan Houser.

The exhibition will be opened by the FFA representatives and the curators and will be accompanied by a musical performance of Panáčik, which he calls Live Musical Romance.

Richness and diversity of topics are typical for grad shows, this year one of the curators in fact noted that apart from traditional topics, such as analyzing the character of artistic media, institutions, or subjectivity, there is a notable interest in questions of post-truth, post-humanism, and political and environmental crises.

Lenka Klodová, Karolína Kohoutková, and Barbora Lungová, who are this years’ curators, have approached the concept of the show with the moto of care. “Organizing a feast at the faculty’s garden straight after the defenses finished was the easiest symbolic gesture. Human emotions won for that moment – it was a desire to see students from the whole year and eat with them at a round table together after their final performance,” says Klodová. „However, the principle of our care is grounded in our effort to professionally take care of the students’ graduation projects.”

Students are presented on to platforms – in a catalog and in an exhibition.
